Mopitus Reflects
on Visionene
I remember writing this one in 2001, and I don't really know what inspired it. But I do know that I wrote it, and that it was inspired. Honestly, I'm surprised it's not a bigger hit than it is...not that I think that it's pure genius, but because it seems to be the type of skit that reaches out to multiple audiences.

This skit is one of the earliest representations of Walter and my fascination with names. There's Cefalo (which I LOVE!), Kelbert (which I LOVE!)...in retrospect, I wish I had given the two old men names as well. And, of course, there's Trippy and Jerry II, two uber-hippies. If you have to ask where these names come from...well...go ahead and ask aloud right now and see if anyone around you answers.

One of the running jokes in this skit is the reference to someone's mom saying their eyes are all red and stingy. Which sounds normal enough until you really think about it. And that actually came from real life. At a pool I lifeguarded at, there was this kid who always had wierd stuff going on...I think we called him Squinty. Anyway, he comes swimming up to my friend D*Train and says "I have to stop swimming now, because my mom says my eyes are all red and stingy." And we just went nuts at that.

One of the most fun part about recording this skit was playing an old man with Vic Arious. More takes were required for these lines than all T. Bob skits put together, I'll bet. Vic has this amazing old man voice, and hearing him say "phenobarbitals" just pushed me over the edge. Another Vic classic is that little laugh, that you may not really be able to hear, at the very end of this skit after he says "...but we'd still love your business."
