| This skit was an absolute blast to make! It was entirely self-produced, and is probably the first skit where I finished it and felt I got it just perfect.
It's actually one where I probably should have used more people for different voices, but for some reason I was in a hurry to get this skit done, and so I did them all myself. And I think you can really tell. But in a strange sort of way, I actually like how it turned out with just one voice. The idea for Speed 3 actually came about in the North End of Boston, when Walter and I were scoping out some good Italian eateries. I think the original idea was Vic Arious', but Walter brought it up to me as a movie where this guy can't walk below three miles per hour or his shoes would blow up. So we sat on the idea for a while, and months later Walter called me up and casually mentioned that Belivida Phaeraday had suggested maybe the movie would take place on a merry-go-round, and I thought the idea was absolutely fabulous. I guess I chose Freddie Prinze Junior and Christina Applegate because I consider them both washed-up actors who probably think too much of themselves. But they're also the kind of names that would attract teeny-boppers. Plus, Freddie isn't that great of an actor besides his looks...just like Keanu. You know, I've never seen Speed 2, but I've just got to say that after listening to T. Bob Tubb's version of Speed 3, I am much less inclined to watch the original Speed than ever before. |
