| Again, this is a skit that was done during one of those rare times that Walter came down to North-of-Boston so we could actually work together on this stuff. More importantly, though, we wrote the entire thing together, which I think was a
first. In fact, I don't think we even had the idea for this one before he came down. In any case, we wrote this in a diner, on the back of a placemat. Which I think I still have. So when we become big and famous, I'll sell it for thousands of dollars. I think you have to know who we are and what we're about for you to understand and appreciate this skit. It's not fast moving, it's not an ad for anything, it's just a conversation. But it is funny, I promise! Just be patient and listen a couple of times. I think we were in a hurry writing and recording this one, because there are mistakes sprinkled throughout. For instance, if you notice the name for the third person in this skit near the beginning, it changes! First it's Wanda-Sue-Bethany-Mariana-Jo, then all of a sudden it's Juanita-Sue-Beth. F.P.A., that's what that is. One thing that Walter loves about this skit is how some of the sound bites are literally repeated in this skit. "Fine!" and "Ohmigod, yeah!" are two that come to mind. I think it's funny, but I do remember arguing with him about whether that's actually what we wanted to do. If you're patient enough to listen to this entire skit, it's actually very cyclical...much like the works of William Butler Yeats. I think it's amusing how Mike is so pissed off in the beginning that his name means "pile of shit," but through all the wackiness throughout the skit, by the end he's so excited! It cracks me the fuck up. And the funny thing is, we didn't intend for that to happen, it's just the way we ended up writing it! Classic Walter wraps up this skit with the whole "I'll hide in the closet..." line. Yay Stemple! |
