| Much of what I've said about the Bloods recruitment video holds true for this one. Ideally, one should listen to Crips after Bloods, as a lot of the jokes in the former are
based upon jokes in the latter. Apparently, however, the Crips hired a blatantly Southern white male to be spokesperson for their video, and put a Southerny-type bluegrass ditty underneath, which I think is a hoot. And such an accomplished Southern gentleman at that! Polly Ollyop's favorite line seems to be "world's
greatest dad mug," which apparently Walter thinks should have been "world's greatest grandpa mug." Don't ask me why. I suppose it does roll off the tongue better. It goes on and off so exciting! Another response to the Bloods' video is the contrast between music. There's the bluegrass, of course, but intstead of rap, we hear Boyz II Men. Which I picture as kind of a calculated response by this marketing dude, thinking "OK, we need a rap song like the Bloods, but it needs to be distinctively different." I dunno. Maybe it doesn't work. I LOVE the fact that the President of Croatia is another one of their spokesmen. It's so incredibly random and bizarre. And actually, to get that guy talking, I went to the library and borrowed a Learn to Speak Russian tape...hey, Russian was the only language that sounds close. So anyway, the Russian phrases that were on the tape were things like "how do you do?" and "excuse me, sir, can you tell me where the restrooms are." I'd love to have someone fluent in Russian to sit down and listen to this. |
