| I have always been a bit concerned that this skit might confuse people, since it's supposed to be a video, but all you hear is the audio. But one thing I learned when I watched Star Wars with my eyes closed is
that, when you don't have something to look at, you start to notice new things about the sound. And, the way I wrote both this and the Crips' version, I think it's actually better that it's audio and not video. Less distracting that way. I honestly don't remember how I thought of the idea for this skit, but I remember being intrigued by it nonetheless. I wanted to set the scene right away by having this ragtime music and very well-spoken man over it, kind of contradicting the image one might have of a gang like the Bloods. I also really love the contrast between the piano music and the rap song. It seems sharp to the point of being ludicrous, which I guess would characterize this entire skit. I think the voice of Georgio Braggle was my first attempt at any semblance of an accent. And I think it actually came out pretty well. And to give credit where it's due, that final joke "two is better than none...or one" is a gem from none other than Sekshun Cheeph. |
